PAD Apparel CAD/CAM System landed in Shanghai

PAD System was founded in 1988 in Montreal, the fashion capital of Canada. Combining the expertise in fashion design and production with creative software engineering, PAD System was among the forerunners in transforming the traditional apparel industry into high technology mode of production with the use of computer-aided design and manufacturing software. Today PAD System still maintains its leading position in the CAD/CAM arena.
PAD System went through an exciting period of development in late 90’s, paralleled to its success in the North American and European markets. With China entering the WTO at the turn of the Century, the globalization of the apparel industry has become ever more intensified. China, with its lower costs of production, abundant supply of labor and inflow of foreign capital, has evolved as the new champion of the world’s fashion maker. To maintain its leadership position, China must continue to invest in its technology infrastructure, including the use of CAD/CAM in the production processes. The motion is now set for another round of growth for PAD System.
In March 2007, the owner of Modular Computer System Limited, which was by then one of the largest PAD distributors, had decided to set up a wholly-owned company in Hong Kong in order to acquire PAD System from its parent company, the LaSalle College Group. This newly formed company, known as PAD System International Limited, has taken over the rights and ownership of all intellectual property related to PAD System including trademark, source code, technical information and web site, etc. The name of the software “PAD System” will remain the same.
Since its inception in 1986, Modular Computer System Limited has been a CAD/CAM system integrator dedicated to the apparel industry. A major strength of PAD System lies in its open approach. It has been designed to work with a wide range of hardware equipment so that customers can mix and match with different hardware options for best result both in terms of functionalities and budget level. For the past 21 years, with this strength of PAD System as a core advantage, Modular has established a solid customer base in China, Hong Kong and other Asian countries. Besides PAD System, Modular is also providing installation and technical support service to other CAM/CAM products such as cutting equipment from Kuris, plotters from Algotex, scanners from NScan, and fashion design software from 4D Box, etc.
As a new force in the world of CAM/CAM software market, PAD System International Limited has an important role to play. Some of the latest developments in the last few months include:
1. Opening of Shanghai Office in August 2007 to provide service and support to customers in Eastern China.
2. Completion for development of a new version of the software, PAD Elite 4.8, to be launched in October 2007.
3. Inauguration of the First PAD System Worldwide Distributor Conference in Shanghai between 26 and 29 September 2007, which coincides the CISMA period. Delegates from over 15 countries are expected to take part in the conference.
